Students have the following extra credit opportunities: These are intended to expand a child's experiences while at the same time improve their grade.
1) Honor Constitution Day (Citizenship Day): This extra credit opportunity is for Social Studies. It will count as a 100% replacement for the lowest homework grade or 50 bonus points. Constitution Day is an American federal observance that recognizes the adoption of the United States Constitution and those who have become U.S. citizens. It is normally observed on September 17, the day in 1787 that delegates to the Constitutional Convention signed the document in Philadelphia. Come up with your own creative way to pay tribute to this special day. This is due by the last day of trimester 1.

Veteran's Day Essay: Veteran's Day is an official United States holiday which honors people who have served in armed services, also known as veterans. It is observed on November 11th. If you know a veteran, this is the perfect opportunity to sit down with him/her and show your appreciation by thanking this veteran for their service. Take some time to learn about this individual and share your experience in an essay. This essay will count as a 100% replacement for the lowest grade in Social Studies or 50 bonus points. This is due by the last day of trimester 1.
2) Math Practice: Students can complete a math review packet worth up to 18 bonus points. All work must be shown to earn any points; in addition, the answer must also be correct to earn points. This is due by the last day of trimester 1.
3) Christmas Adopt a Family Prep: This is a wonderful community building opportunity that will count as a 100% replacement for the lowest homework grade in Science or 50 bonus points. Our sixth grade classroom adopts a family for Christmas. A wish list as well as a food list is created to help make the holidays healthy and fun for our adopted family. We would like to decorate and label the boxes that will be filled with goodies for the family. The official date is Wednesday, November 13. Students must come with a roll of wrapping paper and prearrange their ride home. There is no late bus on this day.
